Catch The Spectacular Sunset When You Get The Chance

Wherever you go on your holiday travels, you will no doubt marvel at some of the sights that await you. Whether that includes instantly recognisable landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the London Eye or a secluded beach on the coast of southern Italy doesn’t really matter. All that counts is that you will almost certainly take those memories, and perhaps a few photographs as well, back home with you at the end.

Despite the fact that there are many man-made structures to be impressed by, surely nothing beats Mother Nature’s finest creations. From spectacular mountains to achingly beautiful waterfalls, the natural wonders of the world are the ones that perhaps cause the most dropping of jaws and catching of eyes. And one of the most amazing sights of all comes back every day for a repeat screening.

If you happen to be staying anywhere near a location that offers spectacular sunsets, you simply have to make the effort to watch. The sight of a bright orange sun slipping slowly behind the horizon is an opportunity that’s too good to miss. And if you didn’t get there in time for the show on the Tuesday, you can always come back on the Wednesday to see it and to be hugely impressed by the beauty.

Savour the food and enjoy the show
In some resorts, you’ll find restaurants and cafes strategically placed to offer diners the very best seats in the house, so be sure to try them. The prospect of enjoying a delicious meal while viewing the remains of the day slowly trickling away is one of those memories that will last a lifetime. As well as the sheer beauty of the occasion, there’s something almost mystical about witnessing this time-honoured event.

Some of the best sunsets are to be enjoyed in southern Europe, and one of the finest of all can be seen from the Greek island of Santorini. As well as a healthy scattering of eateries that attract the visitor, there are also boat trips which allow passengers to watch the sun setting over a watery horizon. If you’re fortunate enough to be able to take a seat on the craft, be sure to take your camera, because you’ll want to record the sights for posterity.

Throughout the region, from Turkey to Gibraltar, the sun gives tourists a chance to say a daily goodbye from a number of vantage points. Spectacular, awe-inspiring, dramatic and reverential, it should be a must-see on the itinerary of every single traveller.
