Foods To Avoid If You Have A Candida Infection

A candida infection is caused by Candida albicans and affects many organs of your body. Candida isn’t always bad, in fact it is present with other beneficial bacteria in your body without causing any harm at aill timrd. Foods to Avoid and Why

You should try and avoid certain foods when you have Candida as they may have a negative affect on your healing, but many foods are also encouraged to beat the infection. This article will focus on the ones you should avoid.

Sugars

Some foods are known to affect your immune system which then causes decreased immunity to fight against infection. Foods such as sugar acts as energy for the Candida yeast – flaring up the infection. Sugars such as honey, artificial sweeteners, chocolates, syrups, fructose and lactose in any food product. Make it a habit to read the ingredients of each food product to avoid these sugars. Soft drinks and many juices also contain artificial sweeteners which can also negatively affect you.

Alcohol & Grains

Alcohol and Candida infection do not go well with each other. It affects your immune system and organs by helping fuel the overgrowth. Avoid beer, wine, cider and other liquors.

Grains containing gluten such as wheat, rye, malt and barley also makes you oversensitive to Candida infection. Do not eat white rice, white bread, pasta, rye bread, popcorn and oats to prevent burden on your immune system.

Fruits & Vegetables (Some)

Fresh fruits that have a high sugar content also feed yeast. Fruits like mangoes and melon in fresh or canned form should be avoided. If your Candida infection is flared up right now then you should avoid certain vegetablesthat can slow the healing up of your Candida overgrowth.

Once your infection starts to get under control then you can slowly add restricted foods back into your diet. In addition to above foods it is also advisable to avoid the following foods in your diet untill the infection has cleared. These include processed meats, pork, and fish except salmon, cheese, milk products, preservatives, coffee, tea and oils such as canola oil, corn oil and peanut oil.
