So you put all of your money into thick carpeting, comfy chairs and expensive knick knacks that will sit on a shelf and collect dust until one day your nephew comes to visit and throws a football through the glass doors on your keepsakes case, and all of that expensive breakable stuff is just a pile of chips on the floor. And you have to restrain yourself from throttling the little monster, at least in front of his parents, so you chuckle and fetch the broom and dust pan so that you can sweep up and throw away what’s left of your Dresden porcelain figurines, Hummels, or whatever kinds of breakable collectibles you were squirreling away.
You’ll have to grin and pretend that all of this does not bother you in any way, and you’ll politely refuse to take payment from the little monster’s parents, who are humiliated about the whole thing.
Put Your Money In Something Different
That’s a rotten shame, but you could have avoided the entire catastrophe by putting your money into something more solid, which your nephew could not break. Instead of porcelain figurines try install some porch balusters, which will add value to your home and make it look much better. By investing in some architectural flourishes, your home may go up in value, and your nephew will be stymied in his efforts to ruin your home and rob you of your peace of mind.
There are many ways that you can spend your money on home improvement, and some of the best options for you are the ones that enhance the curb appeal of your home. That means that your house will look better to people who are driving by, or who perhaps pull over to take a look at you domicile.
Think About Getting Additional Items
While you’re in the outside renovating mood you might also think about purchasing and installing some architectural columns, which could enhance your porch of perhaps other areas of your home’s exterior. If you begin to peruse a catalog of various kinds of architectural touches you could add to your home you’ll probably come up with a number of ideas that will improve the quality of life in your home.
You never know when you might decide to put your home up for sale and move to another area, and this could come about sooner rather than later if you nephew continues to be a regular visitor at your home. So remember, when the little monster comes to your home to wreck it, don’t get mad. Just remodel, and then hire a moving van.
