What Wedding Up-Do Is Right For You?

Finding the right hairstyle for your face shape can be difficult at the best of times. I’m sure everyone has had their share of bad haircuts before coming to a style they love. You want to look your best on your wedding and deciding on the right hairstyle can be crucial. If you want an up-do, be sure to know your face shape. Here are some style tips for different face shapes to help you look your best on your big day.

Oval
If you’ve got an oval face, you don’t need to fuss around too much to look gorgeous. In fact, if you make it too elaborate, you detract from your face shape. Keep your hair up and away from your face to accentuate the shape. Elegant curls flowing down behind you give you volume and length.

Round
As you probably already know, having a fringe gives your face a shape. Side partings are not always your friend because they can flatten your face and make it rounder. To elongate your features, make sure you choose an up-do with volume at the crown of your head. Styling your hair so it’s pulled back tight against your head looks may seem elegant, but it will bring attention to the roundness of your cheeks.

Square
Your angled jaw is nothing to hide, but let it emphasise your femininity. Make good use of your beautiful bone structure with soft, feathered curls down the side of your face. Having your hair up and away from your face makes your chin more prominent and distracts onlookers from your beautiful eyes and wedding hair style.

Heart
Heart shaped faces are stunning and there’s not too much to avoid when deciding on an up-do. The heart shape does, though, carry the curse of the large forehead. A sweeping side fringe will bring the attention back to your eyes. This can also be achieved by adding accessories to your hair; the favourite is flowers or gemmed hair pieces. As with many face shapes, don’t flatten your hair tight to your scalp, as it will highlight your forehead.

Oblong
You may think that having a long face makes it hard to do up-dos, but can be one of the simplest. Your length is your main attribute. Unlike many others with rounder faces, you can pull off the super-clean tight to the head style. This doesn’t mean you have to make your wedding hair style simple, as the back of your hairstyle should be elaborate, to highlight the facial structure around it.
Don’t bunch your hair at the top of your head, as you’re adding height to make your face look too long for your body.
