Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, a German automaker founded in 1917 has a headquarter in Bavaria, Munich, Germany first introduced BMWi8 as BMW “Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics”. It is basically a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) developed by the German automobile maker. The primary concept of the car was revealed long back in the year 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto Show or Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung. The BMW-i8 show vehicle that was predestined for manufacturing was uncovered at the Frankfurt Auto Show or Internationale Automobil-Ausstellung in 2011.
BMW-i8 holds a 7.2 kWh lithium-ion battery set that will deliver an All-Electric Range of 35 kilometer. Back in the year 2010 BMW declared the bulk manufacturing of the “Concept Vision Efficient Dynamics” in Germany, Leipzig commencing in 2013 as the BMW-i8. According to the BMW, the average fuel usage in automobiles in the EU test cycle is 3.76 liters/100 kilometers and has a CO2 emission rating of 99 grams per km. The probable all-electric range is about 50 kilometer and the 24 liter diesel tank expanded the total automobile range to up to 700 km. The lightweight chassis is finished mainly from aluminum. The windshield, the top, the doors and the fenders are manufactured from polycarbonate glass, together with the body including a drag coefficient of 0.22.
